DESCRIPTION:Annual Filings: Impacts to Funding\n\nEach year there are IRS and State financial filings nonprofits must and/or can make. These filings follow Public Inspection rules and is open for anyone to view. This includes donors and foundations. Even if you are only required to file a 990N\, you can file a 990EZ and this provides more information for those considering funding your organization. Learn the advantage to your filings and what to know as you work through 2018.\n\n\n\nThis event is co-sponsored by the Berthoud Area Chamber of Commerce and the Berthoud Community Library District.\nLinda Akey\n\nOwner of Competent Assistance for Nonprofits (CANDO)\n\n\n\n\nBIO\n\nLinda Akey graduated from Metropolitan State College of Denver with a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology and Public Administration. \n\n\n\nCompetent Assistance for Nonprofits was started from Linda's personal passion to assist nonprofit organizations in the pursuit of their passions. Linda loves nonprofit organizations and what they offer their community and world at large. She works passionately to improve the development and success of nonprofit organizations\, including yours. \n\n\n\nAfter college\, she worked in the corporate workforce in the telecommunications and banking industries. She has been a national account manager and corporate trainer and in the past obtained Series 66\, 6 and Series 7 investment industry licenses. Her background in organizational and financial management have provided credited experience in organizational development\, budgeting and finance\, speaking\, writing\, and strategic planning.\n\n\n\nShe was a member of the Colorado Association of Family Child Care and served as zoning chairperson obtaining licensing changes for the benefit of child care providers in Colorado communities. Linda served on the Colorado Children's Coalition fighting for pro-child legislation in the State of Colorado. While in college studying sociology and public administration\, Linda was employed with the Wildwood Child Care Food Program where she obtained a large grant from the State of Colorado to hold mandatory licensing training for child care providers. \n\n\n\nShe moved to Florida in 1994 and\, while continuing her work in the telecommunications industry\, served on the founding board of directors for the Gandy Friendship Bridge nonprofit organization which saved the Gandy Bridge from destruction and made it a green-friendly walking and biking bridge between Tampa Bay and St Petersburg Florida. \n\n\n\nLinda continued her nonprofit work upon her return to Colorado in 1998\, particularly with community theater organizations and served as President of the Board of Loveland Opera Theatre. Linda served on the Community Marketing Commission for the City of Loveland. Later\, she was co-founder and President of the Northern Colorado Nonprofit Resource Center. Linda continues volunteer work in numerous nonprofits in addition to assisting her clients.\n\n\n\nLinda is a registered notary public and holds an IRS PTIN for her business.
